Hughes Public School
On January 20, 1968 bids were taken for the construction of a new Science building.  Later
that year ground was broken and construction was underway.

March 30, 1968 marks the first time the Region II Band Festival was held on the Hughes
Campus.  More than 3,200 people attended.  Schools represented were Jonesboro, Trumann,
Forrest City, Newport, Helena, Wynne, West Memphis, Marianna, Pocahontas, Brinkley,
Batesville, Marked Tree, McCrory, Paragould, Osceola, Rector, Manila, Harrisburg, Blytheville,
Walnut Ridge, Augusta, Corning, Gosnell, Marvell, Parkin, Earle.  Hughes Band parents
hosted the food concessions.

New teachers added to the faculty were:
